France

France has it all. The most visited country in the world. Vineyards and chateaux as well as medieval half-timbered villages and fortified towns. The bicycle was born and raised here and and everyone loves this two wheeled machine and welcomes cyclists. The walker has so much choice from coastal ambles to tough walks in the Alps or the Pyrenees. Walk or cycle through the Loire Valley with all its Gothic and Renaissance Chateaux, enjoy the fine food and Chablis wine of Burgundy. For those who want to walk or cycle in Alsace there is plenty of time to taste some world famous Riesling in between visiting 12th century buildings

Colin's Suggestion

For those who don't want to spend a week in the saddle why not combine time on wheels with time on water? Burgundy is the ideal pace to drift along the Nivernais canal or the Yonne river for four days followed perhaps by three days cycling. Build in a rest day and spend some time sampling some of the best of French wines.
